The 218|V incorporates several enhancements from Link-Belt’s V Series platform, including the 12-inch HSL-2 Load Moment Limiter display, LED lighting package, Cummins Stage V engine, Auxiliary Power Unit, improved side frame extension and retraction, power pack mounting lugs, enhanced self-assembly and disassembly procedures, fall-protection anchor points, screw-type quick disconnects, and button-style sockets for the load hoist drums. These updates improve operator experience, serviceability, and overall job site efficiency.

What models offer an Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), and how can it reduce operating costs?

The 218|V, 228 HSL, and 248|V have a Link-Belt-designed APU that allows the main unit’s engine to be off while continuing to power the cab, LML display, Bluetooth radio, heated seat, and all lights while providing climate control. This greatly reduces fuel consumption and engine hours on the main engine. The APU is also available as a retrofit kit for existing 218|V, 218 HSL, 228 HSL, and 248|V cranes.
